Job Description -
Working for a world leading Insurance company this is a fantastic opportunity to providing risk engineering input from the early construction through to operational handover in respect to new buildings and civil engineering projects.
Construction risks will range from large scale residential to industrial facilities. Civil engineering programs could include roads, and railways.
Alongside your experience of advising in these sectors you should also have a working knowledge of the Code of Practice for fire protection of construction sites and management of escape of water risk.
You will provide risk management advice, to both the internal underwriting team and external customer who are constructing the buildings or carrying out the civil engineering projects.
A large part of the role will focus on the development and implementation of tools for delivering best possible solutions for control and reduction of risk to the Insurance Company and their clients.
Key Responsibilities -
- Provide risk management advice, using effective and objective communication to both internal and external customer groups.
- Develop and implement tools based on knowledge, efficiency, and cost effectiveness for delivering best possible solutions for control and reduction of risk.
- Develop and maintain continuous professional engineering knowledge and resource within the areas of expertise. Analyse claims in the region to draw conclusions and feed the lessons learned back into the underwriting process.
- Develop and improve communication effectiveness and manage relationships to maintain our client’s credibility as a leading professional and ethical insurer to clients, brokers, and the insurance market.
Skills & Experience Required -
- Knowledge and experience in property biased hazards associated with the construction of a wide range of facilities from large scale residential to industrial facilities.
- Working knowledge of current Code of Practice for fire protection of construction sites and management of escape of water risk
- Prior experience in assessment and management of civils related risks in construction
- Hold relevant professional qualification in Fire Engineering, Civils, Risk Management, Process Safety etc.
- Insurance engineering experience gained with a recognised lead insurer or reinsurer would be preferred but not essential.
- Excellent communication and negotiating skills with ability to work both on own initiative and as an effective team member.
