Job Description:
We are seeking an Underwriter or Senior Underwriter to join an established Team at a leading MGA & work with the Construction Underwriting Manager to build up a new line of business in Renewable Energy.
This is a unique opening for an underwriter who would be keen to learn a new class of business and help launch a new product.
Renewable energy is energy derived from natural sources that are replenished at a higher rate than they are consumed e.g Sunlight and Wind. From an insurance perspective this is an evolving class of business and cover may include: Material Damage; Construction risks (including testing and commissioning and advance loss of profits); Transit risks (including delay in start-up loss of profits); Engineering risks (operational machinery breakdown). The MGA's appetite will be for UK based risks, written on a lead basis and introduced by specialist brokers who focus in this field.
The Manager will offer full training in this specialist area and introduce you to the Brokers. You must however enjoy developing Broker relationships and want to be part of growing a new book of business. Alongside the manager you will work together in putting in place a robust underwriting & development strategy. As the book develops there will be opportunities for progression.
You would be based in the London office or Manchester office 2 days a week but oversee business enquiries throughout the UK.
Key responsibilities -
- Generate and underwrite project and operational renewable energy business in accordance with the business plan and profile of target insurance business set by Dual UK, and in accordance with the binding authority granted to the company.
- To develop an effective annual business activity planning process with our brokers and assist to develop a good knowledge of DUAL's Underwriting's overall business plans, processes and key contacts.
- Working with stakeholders to ensure efficient delivery of business plans.
- To work with new and existing broker panel to forge relationships and trust and extend the panel to include new brokers.
- To act as a referral point for underwriters and assistant underwriters within the team
